This website explores key themes related to three waves of Jewish immigration to America from 1654 to present.
It illustrates and illuminates how Jewish immigrants grappled with the dilemma of synthesizing their Jewish and American identities and remaining committed to Jewish survival in a culturally pluralistic society when they moved to embrace the promises of the American dream.
Their 350-year effort demonstrates how these very same Jews came to not only dramatically increase in number and make significant contributions to a plethora of areas in American society. Contributions by Jews include the fields of finance and commerce, film, television, and media as well as political and social activism.
The American Jewish Experience is dedicated to helping scholars, students, and life-long learners better understand and appreciate one of the most successful immigrant success stories in United States History.
